1-hour pre-test warm-up lesson
Your instructor picks you up and runs through the specific test route and manoeuvres for your local test centre. Calm your nerves and iron out last-minute habits.
Instructor's dual-control car for the test
No need to own a car or borrow one. Your instructor's LAMS-approved, fully insured, dual-control vehicle is yours to use for the assessment itself.
Pick-up and drop-off
Your instructor meets you before the test, accompanies you (as required by the testing authority), and drops you home afterwards — whether you pass or not.

Book your government test
Schedule your practical driving test directly with your state licensing authority (Service NSW, VicRoads, TMR, etc.) and confirm your test date and centre.
Book your ACOFEL test package
Search for instructors near your test centre, select "Test Package," and book for the same day — ideally 1–2 hours before your test time.
Warm-up lesson on test day
Your instructor picks you up and runs a focused 60-minute session covering the test centre's known routes and any areas you want to reinforce.
Take your test
Head to the test centre in your instructor's car, meet the examiner, and put your practice to work. Your instructor waits for you during the assessment.

Can I use any instructor's car for my driving test?
Only your ACOFEL-assigned instructor can provide their car. The vehicle must meet your state's requirements (dual controls, current registration, insurance). All ACOFEL instructor vehicles are pre-verified for test eligibility.
Does the test package work for both manual and automatic tests?
Yes — instructors offer test packages for both transmission types. When searching, filter by your preferred transmission to find an instructor whose car matches.
What if I fail my test?
If you don't pass, your instructor will debrief you on exactly what went wrong and what to practise before your next attempt. Rebooking another test package is straightforward via ACOFEL.
How far in advance should I book?
Book your ACOFEL test package as soon as you have your test date confirmed with your state's licensing authority. Popular instructors fill up quickly — 2–4 weeks notice is recommended.
Is the pre-test lesson included in my logbook hours?
Yes — any professional lesson counts toward your logbook hours (required in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA). Your instructor will sign off the lesson in your logbook.
