How to get licensed
in NT.

These are the steps Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR) requires to become an authorised driving instructor in Northern Territory. Requirements are subject to change — always confirm current details with Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR) directly.

    Hold a current NT driver licence

  • 2

    Complete a TLI41225 Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver Training from a registered training organisation

  • 3

    Pass a medical assessment of fitness to drive (L2 form, less than 6 months old)

  • 4

    Provide a National Police Certificate and NT traffic offence history

  • 5

    Pay for and receive your driving instructor endorsement from the Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR)
