How to get licensed
in ACT.

These are the steps Access Canberra requires to become an authorised driving instructor in Australian Capital Territory. Requirements are subject to change — always confirm current details with Access Canberra directly.

    Hold a current full Australian car licence or higher class licence

  • 2

    Complete a TLI41225 Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver Training

  • 3

    Hold a current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration

  • 4

    Pass a medical fitness assessment (less than 6 months old) and hold public liability insurance of at least $5,000,000

  • 5

    Apply to Access Canberra with your dual-control vehicle inspected and approved by the Road Transport Authority
